Paul Donohue, retired Navy Chief Petty Officer, recently sent along these photos with some really nice comments about our favorite lake.
Paul says that as military, he has traveled the world, "But truly and without reservation, I can tell you that there is no place I have seen in all my travels that I think is more beautiful or alluring than Lake Cobbosseecontee."
Some Family Stuff
Paul's parents met at Balbrook Lodge, now Pilgrim Lodge in West Gardiner, where his father was a boat-boy and his mother a waitress. His grandfather, Paul Ware (note the Ware Road off Pond Road) fished the lake for years, and his mother's cousin, Greg Peacock, lives off Deadman's Cove. Tim Thurston, of ,who revised our new CYC lake chart that we have available for sale, is his cousin!
There are definitely many connections to the lake Paul loves and visits whenever he gets the chance!
How's this for a great evening shot of our favorite old lighthouse?
Paul has also downloaded our membership form so will be a new CYC member soon!
Thanks Paul.
