Merry Christmas?

Maine Special Olympics Bass Tournament
Sunday, May 4, 2008
An Annual Event  put on by Andy and Sheree Wess
Lakeside Motel and Marina on Lake Cobbosseecontee
East Winthrop

Congratulations to Andy and Sheree and all of the sponsors of this tournament which this year raised $7,515 for the Maine Special Olympics.  So many sponsors, led by Gardiner Savings Bank of Maine and a $2,000 donation, are responsible for the success of this annual event.

Frank Weeks to the left with Craig Castro to the right (both from R.I.) hauled in 32lbs 56oz worth of bass to win this Maine Special Olympics tournament! Water temperature a mere 47 degrees. Great fishing guys!
And look who lands the biggest fish, at 7lbs. 55oz. Nice largemouth, Frank!
Here are the top 3 teams who collectively hauled in over 90lbs. of large and smallmouth bass. All "catch and release."
The crowd gathers awaiting the awards ceremony.
And some of the crowd just gathers at the food tent!
Dave Barnes weighs 'em up while Bill Decoteau announces the results.
And here's the good part. Catch and release, and your photographer did not see one "belly-up" fish!
Must be a fascinatin' story behind this Dave Barne's gift. They don't hardly catch them critters in Cobbossee, that's for sure!
Andy announces $2,000 donation check from major sponsor, Gardiner Savings Bank of Maine.
Sherry pours coffee while Lee watches from the side.
The winners relax while awaiting the awards ceremony and the check that they earned on this, a very wet and cold day!
On the way to those "best spots" at 8:12 am.
Just a bit foggy and more than a bit wet for this one!
Sneak in there close to shore. Are they lurking under those branches? 9:14 am.
Fish on? Still no tell-tale sign of the bent and whipping rod tip! 10:27 am.
Parkas, hoods up, clearly not a great day to be on the water! 10:31 am.
