CYC Annual Meeting 2008

Sunday, July 13 at 4 pm some eighty CYC members showed up at the Augusta Country Club for another wonderful meal, great socialization, and much fine information provided by Bill Monagle of the Cobbossee Watershed District, Bob Moore of the Friends of the Cobbossee Watershed, and Bill Kieltyka, CYC Vice Commodore who discussed the upcoming August 10 sailing regatta.  Click

Our main speaker of the evening was Barry Costa, Director of the YMCA Camp located on the west shore of Cobbossee in Winthrop, who reflected on the Y Camp, "Then and now."  Barry did a very nice job discussing an important camp that has so much interesting history dating back to 1915!

Thanks to Hank and his staff at the ACC, all diners that the Commodore spoke to during the evening raved about the food .  The haddock, the chicken marsala, the prime rib (just outstanding!), and the wild mushroom ravioli received many compliments!  And how could one, diet or no, resist that chocolate cake?  Yum!

During the business meeting, a few By-law changes were passed by vote of the members and John Dean was voted in as the new CYC treasurer. At that time Elaine Fuller was also recognized and honored as outgoing treasurer, newsletter editor, membership chair, and, oh yes, a former Commodore to boot!  She has been a driving force with this organization and will continue to serve on the Executive Committee.  Elaine was presented with a Paul Plumer print (the number 2, signed copy), a pen and ink drawing of the Ladies Delight Lighthouse commissioned as part of the 100th Anniversary celebration.

As well, the original Plumer drawing, which will be raffled off on September 6 at our final Boat-in of the season at the Marston Cottage, was on display and Debbi Farrell and Martha Richards spent the evening selling tickets for that raffle.

This was indeed another fine CYC event!  Here are some photos of the evening!

What a fascinating history the YMCA camp has had! Very interesting, Barry! What a great organization.
The group listens to an interesting Barry Costa presentation. Thanks Barry!
