LADIES DELIGHT ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE 101 years old this year!
Our unique 25 foot stone lighthouse on Ladies Delight Island, constructed in 1908 and presented to the Cobbosseecontee Yacht Club, is believed to be the only active inland waters lighthouse in the State of Maine. Located in the bay near the north end of the lake, its light flashes 365 nights a year.
Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, this lighthouse had a severe list corrected in 2001, and a new marine grade aluminum top installed in July of 2005. Observers should find that our beloved old lighthouse now looks as majestic as it once did decades ago! This beautiful structure was formally dedicated on July 16, 2005 by retiring long-time CYC Commodore, Captain Hugh Stephens, also Keeper of the Light.
Another old photo of the lighthouse. Note water level!
Our lighthouse, as you can see, is truly great place to advertise our annual Concert on the Lake sponsored by Clark Marine and always in Horseshoe Cove on the 4th Saturday in July. Again this year we feature the School Street Band!
On August 9, 2008, members of the Cobbosseecontee Yacht Club and invited guests, celebrated the 100th anniversary of our lighthouse! Be sure to check out the 100th Anniversary page for all of the news pertaining to our special events for that special occasion!
Look closely! This is our lighthouse all lit up for the holidays!

The Commodore almost caught doing some clean-up work at the end of July 2007. Photo by Brian Breault who happened by and decided to see who was up there and why. Thanks for keeping watch, Brian!
Now check out this unique old photograph of our lighthouse!
WOW! What more needs be said?
