Cobbossee Sailing Fleet
Early Lake Cobbosseecontee history often makes reference to the sailing regattas that began back during the days that trolley cars brought summer visitors to the north end of the lake near Hammond's Grove and Island Park.
The Cobbossee Sailing Fleet (CSF), once actually a part of the CYC, has been for years a separate organization devoted to sailing and still races Thursday evenings during the summer off Molizigan Island . And membership and participation is growing! Interested?

Note photo at the bottom left. This is the Gaffney's, a father and son team preparing for a Belfast Laser race. They also came up to Cobbossee from Georgetown for a few of the Thursday night races too! So much fun for all who participate!
CSF Annual Meeting
The Cobbossee Sailing Fleet will hold its Annual Meeting June 9, 2011 prior to that night's racing. Currently, Syd Sewall is Captain of the CSF, Bill Harwood is Racing Committee Chairman, and Kelly Palmer is Treasurer. Election of officers will occur at the meeting.
Regular Thursday evening racing will continue through the summer and the annual Lighthouse Regatta is set for Sunday, August 7. The Loon cup race will take place this year on Saturday, September 17.

CSF 2010 Season
Thursday evening 6:00 pm races off Molazigan Island: The races have begun! Great fun! Everyone is welcome! Boat on over. Catch the wind and sail on over to the island for some Thursday evening fun! Races and a beautiful sunset? Sounds like a "Grab your favorite beverage type of evening!" Enjoy the races!
2nd Annual Lighthouse Regatta More information to follow soon! The Annual Loon Cup This is the traditional last open race scheduled for the season. More to follow.

2008 CSF Summer Season Results
This email was received by the CYC from Bill Howard who, as Race Chairman, has kept us up-to-date on all race results for the CSF this season. Thanks Bill!
"Attached (click on the Xs to the right) are the final standings. They were announced at the Loon Cup but I thought some of you may be interested in seeing both the standings with the throw-outs and the standings without the throw-outs. It was great to see a very healthy turnout this season. It could be even better. I hope to see a night with 15 boats next year! We can do it with all the new interest from the younger sailors and the new women sailors.
Thank you Jon Lund for the continued use of the island. We are all very grateful.
Thank you Syd for a well run season and Loon Cup Regatta. Congratulations too for going almost the whole season with all first places!

The Cobbossee Yacht Club, the Cobbossee Sailing Fleet and the Augusta Country Club again joined forces to sponsor another sailing regatta in Manchester Bay. Please keep in mind that you all are welcome to participate in these regattas. We know many of you are sailors, we see you out there on the breezy days, so hoist those sails and join us next summer!
